Xiangyang airport was founded in 1989, liu set in December 14, formal shipping, located in the northeast of xiangyang city, hubei province, 18 kilometers away from downtown, is by the local government to raise more than 3000 three-year construction, become China's first raising funds by local newly-built civil airport.
In 2013, the passenger throughput of xiangyang airport ranked 77th among the top 80 in China.

The terminal covers an area of 3,800 square meters.
In 2016, the design standard for passenger throughput of 2.2 million people, cargo and mail volume of 15,000 tons, and flight take-off and landing volume of 20,000 times was designed and expanded, and it has the capacity of international airlines.
